First Lady Melania Trump, along with French First Lady Brigitte Macron showed off a stylish display together at the White House on Monday.
Welcoming the French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, for their first state visit at the White House, Melania ensemble contained several labels from her guest’s home nation, showing a clear display of diplomatic dressing. The First Lady wore a black tuxedo-inspired cape by French luxury fashion house, Givenchy. Underneath the Givenchy cape was a black dress from Dolce & Gabbana that was paired together with her signature Christian Louboutin black So Kate patent leather pumps and a black crocodile-skin clutch from Christian Dior.
The Givenchy wool cape retails for $2,790 at Selfridges and is now sold out.
As for Brigitte, she donned a custom made pale yellow coat detailed with black buttons and a ribbon tied around the waist and a yellow dress from Louis Vuitton. She paired the ensemble with a Louis Vuitton cylinder-shaped purse with a black patent leather Louis Vuitton pumps.
Kicking off the three day state visit, the Macrons gifted the Trumps a sapling 4.5 foot European Sessile Oak tree. The tree comes from Belleau Woods, a historic landmark that symbolizes the time the United States entered World War I in 1918. During the war, over 9,000 American marines were killed in the Belleau Wood battle. The two couples together planted the tree on the South Lawn of the White House before departing the White House for a tour of Washington D.C before heading to Mount Vernon for a pre-state dinner at George Washington home.
The Macrons are guests of the Trumps’ first state dinner of the administration that will be held Tuesday night. Before the state dinner, the two leaders are scheduled to have a bilateral talks discussing a wide range of issues followed by a joint press conference.
The first state dinner for Melania was prepared months in advance, according to a tweet she tweeted. The First Lady’s office said the meal for the dinner was each selected by Melania and it includes — Goat Cheese Gateau, Tomato Jam, Buttermilk Biscuit Crumbles, Young Variegated Lettuces, Rack of Spring Lamb, Burnt Cipollini Soubise, Carolina Gold Rice Jambalaya, Nectarine Tart, and Crème Fraîche Ice Cream.
Loving cape tuxedo jackets, but don’t want to cough up over two thousand for one, I have rounded up similar affordable options below.
